Why Choose Big Kick Coffee?

We small batch fire roast our coffee in 100 year old classic 25lb roasters. Utilizing over 30 years of industry experience with humble beginnings as a chocolatier where chocolate covered espresso beans were a favorite. We select the finest quality varietals and roast them with our five senses focusing on roast color and taste, not by computer.

  • Big Kick Coffee purchases green coffee beans directly from four different family farmers. This close relationship, we feel, helps to sustain the farmers. Other specific varieties are carefully selected that garner the consistent results that Big Kick Coffee is well known for. Our customers have a choice in the variety of coffee outcomes from  approximately ten coffee bean origins we offer. We pride ourselves in excelling at the preparation of selected single origin coffee varieties we fire roast.

  • Coffee beans come from trees, WOW, called Cherry trees, with the seeds resulting in green coffee beans. Coffee cherries bloom and grow around the world in slightly different ways. Near the equator, Colombia, Ecuador, or Panama, for example, cherries can bloom and ripen year round, leading to more floral and perfumed notes. In far south regions, Brazil or Tanzania, for example, cherries take longer to develop, as they are a 1000 miles from the equator. Similarly, high-mountain grown coffees are subjected to cool nights and thereby take longer to ripen, which leads to intensified flavors and more internal oils.

  • From the Coffee Cherries pulping process comes Green Coffee Beans. These green coffee beans develop around the world in widely varying environments, from Jungle grown coffee beans in Peru and Congo, to High Mountain grown coffee beans in Honduras and Kenya. Each green coffee bean may also come from a different species of coffee cherry tree, which also influences size, color, hardness, smell and taste. Dark and hard green coffee beans roast entirely different than light and soft green coffee beans. Every green coffee bean has its unique intricacies, which, we at Big Kick Coffee adapt for, each time we Fire Roast Green coffee beans.

  • Big Kick Coffee’s fire roasting process involves a time tested tradition of slowly roasting coffee beans to develop individual peak flavor results. Coffee beans roasted too hot and too quickly get toast like flavors and lack sweetness from over caramelization. With Big Kick Coffee you get coffee that is roasted longer to develop sweetness and beautiful flavor profiles like chocolate and peanut butter.
